Rogers steps in right direction
Yesterday, Rogers announced a special offer for early adopters of the iPhone 3G or anyone who has use for data on their phone for that matter. Beginning July 11 and ending August 31, you’ll be able to add a data plan valued at $30 for 6gb of downloads/uploads. This is somewhat comparable with what AT&T offers because their “unlimited” plan is said to be capped at 5gb. 6gb is more than enough for the average users, hell, even for heavy users. A-GPS shouldn’t eat too much of that data up.
This is definitely a step in the right direction for Rogers and will satisfy most customers’ needs. However, there are some finer details withheld in this announcement, unless I missed it.
- Is this a limited time promotion? Like their usual “for the first 3 months only” or is it for life?
- Does subscription to this plan require a 3 year contract as well?
Rogers should have named this the “unlimited” plan but place a light cap on it at 6gb. I seriously doubt that the majority of users will use this much data in a month with pure web browsing. If you’re hitting this limit, you have to find some other forms leisure activities! Now how about getting rid of that ridiculous system access fee and lowering voice plans in general? Whaddaya say Rogers? COME ON!
PS: RuinediPhone.com is almost at 60,000 and there’s no end in sight.
