How ’bout them Apples!?

Wow, there must have been serious student discounts on Macbooks at this campus!  Pretty much every single studnet has a MacBook/Pro.  I wonder what course this is.

So Mr. Jobs announced the new MacBook/Pro last Tuesday and they’re ready for you to take home today.  Apparently the Apple Store in Vancouver, BC has them in stock, but not on display.  You’re still able to purchase them though.  The Apple Store at Alderwood Mall had them all on display.

My brief hands-on with the new MacBook left me with a great first impression.  Build quality was solid as a “brick” and the fit and finish was perfect as far as I can tell.  Keyboard and trackpad were a pleasure to use and the LED display was decent.  Under the hood, you have pretty much everything you need for everyday computing.  My only negatives are the lack of firewire ports, average screen quality and viewing angles, and it’s a bit on the heavy side.  Meh, I can live with it.

I’m going to give it a couple more months before I take the plunge, head first, in to the Apple family.  Let’s give them some time to work out any kinks/recalls/lawsuits/etc.  My first gen Apple iPhone was what really attracted me to Mac OS X.  Everything was so simple to use, straight forward, and as a bonus, beautifully wrapped in eye candy.  It just looks good doing what it does.  Anyone wanna buy my PC?
